Seppankizhangu Varuval / Colocasia masala fry

Hi friends,
Sepankizhangu/ colocasia/arbi varuval is one of the easy and flavourful recipe which goes well with all type of variety rice.It tastes too good. I've tried this recipe yesterday not only for  its taste , also for its main health benefits like increases stamina and beneficial against obesity. It came out well. I'd like to share this recipe.Let's see how to make this delicious fry.

Ingredients:

  • Sepankizhangu / arbi/ colocasia 500g
  • Cooking oil
  • Chilli powder 2tsp
  • Coriander seed powder 2tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves

Method:
Wash and boil the sepankizhangu and peel them off.
Then cut them into slices as shown in the picture.
Heat oil in a pan. And fry the sepankizhangu slices well. Cook them both the sides. The outer part should be crispy and inside soft. For that we need to cook it in  medium flame.
Once all the sepan kizhangu slices cooked, heat 3 tsp of oil in another pan. Reduce the flame to the lowest and add in all the masalas along with the cooked Sepankizhangu. Toss it for 2-3 minutes.
Garnish it with curry leaves. Now the tasty Sepankizhangu varuval is ready.
Note:

  • Select Sepankizhangu of medium size. If it is too small, its difficult to peel off.
  • Boil the Sepankizhangu in microwave or in a pressure cooker. In pressure cooker, cook them till 2 whistles. We can steam them also.Check occasionally to see you are able to peel  the skin.
  • Sepankizhangu should not be over cooked as it gets mashed.
  • Spices can be adjusted according to our wish.
Cook with love and serve with smile!!!!
