Arai Keerai Poriyal

Hi Friends,
          Many  of you would have heard  people say "Eat keerai, its good for health, its rich in iron and calcium." Though they are correct, I always say "Eat keerai because it tastes good." Today I'm going to tell you how to make arai keerai delicious.
Arai  Keerai Poriyal



Ingredients:
  • 1 bundle of Arai keerai.
  • 3 tsp of cooking oil
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp of split black gram
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 green chillies
  • 2 onions
  • scrapped coconut
  • salt


Method:
  • Clean the arai keerai and set aside.
  • Heat oil  in a pan and add mustard seeds and split black gram and wait till it splutters.
  • Add crushed garlic and wait till turns to golden brown.
  • Then add chopped onions,green chillies and fry them well.


  • Now add the cleaned and washed keerai and add 50 ml of water and close the pan and cook it for 10 minutes.
  • When the kerai has absorbed water completely, add the scrapped coconut and saute it for two minutes
  • Finally add salt and stir it well.


  • Now the delicious and tasty arai keerai poriyal is all ready to serve.


Serve with:
      Arai keerai poriyal is the best side dish for all the rice with gravy items.  We can mix this arai keerai poriyal in rice and have it for lunch.

How to clean the arai keerai:
  • First remove the stems from the arai keerai.
  • Then wash them 2-3 time thoroughly in the water.
