Moong dal payasam / Pasiparuppu payasam

Hi friends,
                     Wish you happy new year. Today we'll see how to prepare moong dal payasam.

Moong dal payasam

  • 250g of moong dal
  • 250g of jaggery
  • a cup of scrapped coconut
  • 3 tsp ghee
  • cashew nuts
  • A pinch of cardamom powder
  • scrap the jaggery.

  •  Take a pan and add the scrapped jaggery and water and stir it continuously in a small flame, till the jaggery dissolved completely in water. Remove from heat and filter it and set aside.

  • Take a thick bottomed vessel and dry roast the moong dal. Stir continuously till moon dal turns golden brown.

  •  Add water and boil it until the moong dal becomes soft.

  •  Now add the scrapped coconut and mix them well.

  •  In a sauce pan fry the cashews in ghee and add it with the moong dal.
  • Add a pinch of cardamom powder and the jaggery syrup and mix them.

  •  wait till it boils.
  • remove from heat.
  • Now moong dal payasam is ready to serve.

  •  It can be serve as an evening refreshment. It occupies important place in full meals also.
