Today I prepared Snake Gourd Koottu. Koottu is a popular side dish of south India. Its a combination of veggies with dal in a semi solid form. Here I tried the koottu with the snake Gourd. Snake Gourd is very high in water content and thus cools our body.This summer vegetable provided by the nature to beat the heat in nature.Let see how to prepare it.

Ingredients:
- Snake gourd / Pudalangai 500g
- Bengal gram 100g
- Oil 3tsp
- Mustard seed 1 tsp
- Black gram 1 tsp
- Garlic 2 cloves
- Onion 1
- Dry red chilli 3
- Curry leaves
- Wash the Snake Gourd.
- To remove the skin of the Snake Gourd, scratch the surface of it with the knife gently. Because it has very thin skin.
- Then cut them into small pieces.
- Chop the onion and set aside.
- Take the bengal gram in a wok and add water to it and cook in a slow flame for ten minutes .
- Then add the chopped snake gourd and salt.
- Allow it to cook for fifteen minutes.
- Take a pan, heat oil and add the mustard seeds and the black gram.
- Wait till it splutter and add the crushed garlic and saute it for two minutes.
- Then add the broken dried red chilli, curry leaves and the chopped onion, one by one .
- Saute them continuously until the onions becomes golden brown.
- Add the fried onions with the cooked Snake Gourd.Cook them for a minute.
- Remove from the heat.
- Now the Snake Gourd Koottu is all ready to serve.
- Snake Gourd Kootu is best side dish for the rice added with the Drumstick and brinjal tamarind gravy , Karamani Pyaru Tamarind gravy and Lady's finger tamarind gravy
- Snake Gourd Koottu is the best side dish for chappathi, dosai and idli.
