Vulundhu Vadai Recipe / Medhu Vadai / Black gram vada / Urad dal vada /

Hi friends,
Vulundhu vadai occcupies important place in all feast. Its made up of black gram. Vulundhu vadai is a healthy dish too. Ladies should add more black gram food items in their routine one way or the other. Like vulundhankali, vulundhu maavu vurundai etc.  One of the best way is to eat vadai. Lets see how to make vulundhu vadai.

 Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kg of Urad dal (Black gram)
  • 3 onions
  • 4 green chillies
  • curry leaves
  • Cooking oil for deep frying
  • salt

Method:

  • Wash and soak urad  dal (black gram) in water for an hour.

  •  Grind the dal in a grinder. Don't add water when it is ground. If it is necessary, add very little water. Grind till the dal becomes smooth paste.
  •  Add chopped onions, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and salt with the ground dal.

  •  Mix them well.

  •  Heat oil in a pan . Reduce the flame. Because fry the vulundhu vadai in a slow flame.
  • Take a small ball of dal mix , slightly press it over the plastic sheet and make a hole in the middle with the help of a finger.
  • Every time when you take a ball of dal, wet your hand with water. So the dal mix will not stick into your hands.
  • Place the dal mix gently into the oil. Fry both the side till it is done.
  • The bubbles from the oil stop, if the vadais are done. Remove from the pan.
  • Keep them on the tissue paper to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with spicy coconut chutney.

Try Vulundhu vadai and enjoy your evening snack.
