Drumstick and Brinjal Tamarind gravy Recipe

Hi friends,
                 Drumstick and Brinjal Tamarind gravy is a very popular south Indian recipe. Its very simple and easy to prepare.  Lets check out how to make it.





Ingredients:
  •  3 onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2 drumsticks
  • 4 violet  brinjals
  • Extract from a lemon sized  tamarind
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp of red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp of coriander powder
  • A ladle of cooking oil
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp of split black gram
  • Salt to taste

Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed and split black gram. Let it splutter.Add the chopped onions and curry leaves and wait till the onions turn to golden brown.
  • Add the drumstick pieces, brinjal pieces, tomato pieces, turmeric powder and salt to it and continue sauteing them until the tomatoes are soft.

  • Add the tamarind extract , red chilli powder and the coriander powder and mix them well.
  • Cook the gravy in a low flame for fifteen minutes.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Now the tangy Drumstick and Brinjal tamarind gravy is ready to serve.
  • Serve with hot steamed rice, iddli, or dosa.
