Sweet Ragi Dosa Recipe / Kelvaragu Inippu Dosai Recipe

Hi friends,
Today I'm going to share with you one of the traditional food of our south Indian villages. Ya  I'm talking about the recipe made out of Ragi. Village people make porridge and drink with the buttermilk..That's why they are healthy and they are able to do physical work throughout their life. Ragi gives us strength and it cools our body.It has fiber and lowers the cholesterol level.
Variety of dishes can be prepared out of Ragi. Like dosa, porridge, ragi balls, vermicelli, pakoda, and many sweet items. Dosa can be prepared in two ways. By adding sweet (Sweet dosa) and by adding chillies (Kara dosa). Children love to eat dosa with jaggery. We must introduce  them these kind of ragi food in their childhood itself. We'll see how to make Sweet Ragi Dosa.

Ingredients:
  • Ragi flour 250g
  • Jaggery 150g
  • Scrapped coconut 1/2 cup
  • A pinch of cardamom powder
  • Cooking oil

Method:
  • Scrape the jaggery, add a glass of water and cardamom powder. Bring it to boil, filter it to remove the impurities  and keep it aside.
  • Take Ragi flour in a bowl, add the scrapped coconut and mix them well.
  • Now add the jaggery syrup and stir it  to the consistency of dosa batter.Let it sit for atleast half an hour. So that the ragi flour mix with the jaggery nicely and we will get soft dosas.
  • Heat tawa and take a ladle of batter and spread it on the tawa in a circular motion to make a round shape dosa.
  • Add a teaspoon of oil around the dosa.
  • Cook the dosa in the low flame.
  • Flip the dosa so that the other side also cooked evenly.
  • Remove it from the heat.
  • Now the sweet, healthy and tasty Ragi dosa is ready to serve.
Note:
  • Instead of cooking oil, we may use ghee which will give us a wonderful flavour.
  • We may add some broken pieces of cashew nuts in the dosa batter to make it more delicious.
  • Adjust the jaggery according to your taste.
  • Make dosa in any shape to attract the children
Make these sweet dosas to enjoy your pleasant morning.

Happy cooking! Keep smiling!!
