How to Make Lemon Rice?

Hello everyone,
Lemon Rice is an easy to cook menu which lasts for hours even without refrigeration. It is a famous dish in South India. South Indians prefer Lemon rice for long travel. Lemon is enriched with Vitamin C and its juice gives a refreshing flavour to the rice. Let us move on to the recipe now.

Lemon Rice


  • Boiled Rice - 500gms
  • Lemon - 2
  • Mustard seed - 1/2 spoon
  • Split black gram -1 spoon
  • Green Chilly - 5
  • Red Chilly - 2
  • Turmeric powder - pinch
  • Asafoetida  - pinch
  • Curry leaves, Coriander leaves.
  • Salt (as per your wish)  


  • Extract  juice from the lemons.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and put mustard seeds and allow it to crackle.
  • Fry the black gram seed along with it.
  • Saute red chilly, green chilly, curry leaves, coriander leaves in the same pan.
  • Add turmeric powder, asfoetida and salt and take the pan off the stove.
  • Add the boiled rice and mix it well.
  • Sprinkle the lemon juice all over the rice and mix thoroughly.
  • Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves.
