How to Prepare Idli Powder at Home?

In this modern world, most of the women want to reduce the work burden of cooking as they don't have the time. So it is advice able to prepare some idli powder at home to make your breakfast easy. It reduces your morning tension and helps start a healthy, brisk day!. Lets see how to prepare idli powder in easy steps.

Idli Powder



Ingredients :
  • 250 gm of blackgram
  • 4 teaspoon of gingily seed
  • 20 red chillies
  • 1 teaspoon of asafoetida
  • Dried curry leaves
  • Salt as you need


Procedure :
  • Roast black gram in a pan in reduced flame
  • Stir it without any gap. Add gingili seeds, stemless red chillies and dried curry leaves till it becomes golden brown.
  • Cool down the roasted mixture and grind them without water then add asafoetida and salt and again grind them.
  • Again cool it down and store it in an air tight container.

 Serve with :
                                   This idli powder is one of the best side dishes for both idli and dosa. This powder can also be sprinkled on dosa when we prepare uthappam..  This powder can be added with boiled rice with gingily oil and used for lunch. It is protein rich and healthy!

Note: It is best to mix idli powder with some gingili oil before serving and add a clove of crushed garlic for more flavour. Heat the gingili oil for some time and then add it to idli powder. It will be delecious to eat and  serves as a simple, protein rich recipe!
